ROYAL MALAYSIA POLICE

Federation of Malaya Police >Malayan Union Police Force
> Civil Affairs Police Force (starts here)
The Royal Malaysian Police Force (RMP) was founded in 1807 and currently is 207 years old since its inception. Before, they were known only as Federation of Malaysian Police rather than the "ROYAL" Malaysian Police. (Their insignia at the time shown above)
(the insignia of FMP with the crown)
The title of "ROYAL" wasn't given until the year 1958. Tunku Abdul Rahman bestowed the title of "ROYAL" to the police force to commemorate them of their excellent and valorous service. Hence the crown is added on to the initial insignia.
(insignia with lion head)
Around 1963 they changed one of the "Keris" of the insignia to a "Parang" or "Ilang" sword to represent the consolidation of the police force of the eastern states of Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak) and added the Lion head to symbolise courage.
(insignia with tiger head)
The lion head is later changed into a tiger head (spirit & strength) The former lion head also symbolises the State of Singapore (1965) and Sabah.
BREAKDOWN OF THE INSIGNIA

MOTTO & VISION OF RMP
MOTTO (current) : KOMUNITI SEJAHTERA, KOMITMEN KAMI
VISION (current) : INTEGRITI, AMALAN KITA
The current motto of the RMP is "KOMUNITI SEJAHTERA, KOMITMEN KAMI" which also means "The prosperity of the community is our commitment". According to the police officer that we interviewed the RMP changes their motto either annually or with change of their IGP (Inspector-General of Police).
As for their vision for their police force, it is currently "INTERGRITI, AMALAN KITA". The quote of their vision for the police force is also in a form of a badge which is worn by every police officer. The badge is a reminder to the officers to practice integrity not only when the uniform is worn, but also when the uniform is off. Not easily swayed but bribery and let it tarnish their judgement.

Star Badge : In a lot of countries its the symbol of authority
Hibiscus : Our national flower, also symbolises nationalism
OTHER FINDINGS & OBSERVATIONS
We noticed a crown symbol on all the Commonwealth countries' Police force. I believe they all adopted this idea from their coloniser(British).
The reason given by the officer we interviewed on using the crown instead of the "tengkuluk" in the RMP insignia is because the "tengkuluk" is referred to more of a cultural aspect of our country. As for using the crown its because its also a more apparent indication of authority and protection to laymen.
